Patricia C. Baker, Program Management Specialist in Fire Protection Engineering, was honored this spring for thirty years of dedicated service to the University of Maryland.

Pat joined the University in 1978 as a secretary in Counseling and Personnel Services in the College of Education. In the early 1980s Pat came to the School of Engineering and, over the years, held positions as the graduate secretary in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering.

Pat’s contributions and kindnesses are many, and faculty, staff, students, and alumni will attest that they benefit from them every day. Pat especially plays an important role in the lives of the students, in supporting them and making a difference in their lives as they progress through the FPE undergraduate and graduate programs.

Pat, along with twelve other Clark School staff members, was honored at the A. James Clark School of Engineering’s “2009 Staff Appreciation Event” on May 13, 2009. Dean Darryll J. Pines presented Pat with a gift from the Clark School and Dr. Marino di Marzo introduced Pat and talked about her service to the University.

On May 14, 2009, the Department of Fire Protection Engineering honored Pat with a cake and gift on behalf of her FPE colleagues. Pat is truly at the heart of the FPE family.
